Haha Jenna!
When I was about 12 my family went camping for the weekend and we brought my beloved cat, Tiger. She ran off the first night, but I put cat food all around our tent and she came back that
afternoon. She ran off the second night and there was a HUGE storm. She never cam back. I made my mom call the campsite so many times, but they never found her
Yes.. Duke went missing constantly and then started to get really crazy/violent so my parents told me he ran away and never returned.. he actually returned and they took him back to the vet.
Then Jesse (our Golden) went missing in Israel for a while. Thank GOD this lovely woman found her, took care of her, and returned her to us
Yes, our Afghan Hound Nikki. There was a terrible storm one night and it blew the fence down. Both dogs took off (We had Rusty, the cocker spaniel at the time as well). Rusty came back a
couple days later but no Nikki. We're sure someone took her in because she was gorgeous. My mother was devastated. Nikki was her dog most.
Other - I lose my pets in a 1 bedroom apartment. That's because they hide in random places. Like behind the refrigerator. Or in baskets on top of the kitchen cabinets.
Recently, the gate was not locked. I let Shiloh and Ginger out and then went out shopping. Hours later, when I came back at 3pm, the wind had blown open the gate and they were both gone. I
called animal control and they said they wouldn't pick them up, unless someone reported they were mean. Well I knew that wouldn't happen. Shiloh made it back around 6:30, but Ginger was a no
show. Gingers ID tag had fallen off several weeks before, so I knew she had no ID. We searched until it got dark. That night we made flyers with her picture. The next morning, Ethan and I
hung up the flyers all over our neighborhood. After I dropped him off at school, I went into some of the other neighborhoods. I hung up a total of 33 flyers. Luckily someone saw one and
called me. She had found Ginger the night before and was on her way to the vets to see if she had an under the skin ID. So by 10am that morning, I had her back. Her tag was put back on
immediately and now we make sure the gate is always locked.
Lisa, I am sssoooooooooo happy your doggies came back!
As for me I voted option 2, but I really should have said other. I lost a kitten once a long time ago, long story. I kept calling animal control a few times a day until they told me that had
picked him up, deceased. It was awful. My mother yelled at me and said I was going to a horrible mother some day. Haven't lost my kids at the store yet. I believe she lost ME once though.
We also lost Radar once. Well Joe's roommate did it. I got there right when it happened. I have never ever seen my husband so pissed off. She came back home about 30 minutes later and just
walked right up to Joe like nothing had happened.
When I was young, our two dogs, Tiffany and Rascal, sometimes got out from the fenced in back yard...and I would have to go retrieve them. But they never went far, and thank goodness it
didn't happen that often. (That's one of my biggest fears...I'll lose a pet. I have nightmares where I'm chasing after Halo..or trying to keep him from danger. I hate those dreams.)
Lisa, I'm so happy you got both doggies back.
karma, I'm also happy you got Jesse back.
Some of your stories are heartbreaking. Many hugs...to those of you, who lost a pet and you didn't
get him/her back.
When I moved to Norway, my parents kept my cat because she was really old. She disappeared in September and never came back. We think she either went away to die alone or was eaten by a fox.
I had just showered my dog so he had no collar on and I went out to grill something on my deck... well, I guess my dog wandered away when I was grilling in the backyard and then I get a phone
call from my neighbor who says No worries we have Charles, Lauren. Well appearently he was running near the busy street next to her house and then someone came by to pick him up and he ran to
my neighbor's house and sat on her front stoop. The lady who was going to pick him up rang the doorbell and my neighbor was like, I DO know that dog! So she called me. I was sooooooooo
relieved!
when we went to houston for my stepdaughter's wedding a couple years ago, her dog got loose out of the house on her wedding day. me, hubby and the kids were there and it was the worst hr
ever. we found him finally but we were so worried that we were going to have to tell her we lost her dog and on her wedding day no less.
Yes - when in was in elementary school, our calico cat, Magic, ran off and never returned. My brother and I were sad for a while, but that cat was always a real *sshole. It scratched the crap
out of me the first day we got it, and it was a weekly tears and Bactine fest in our house after that.
...and now that I'm thinking about it, it's entirely possible that my parents gave the cat to someone else and just told us it was lost. I think I'll ask my mom about that.
Yes, when I was 4 years old my bunny Marshmallow got out of his pen. My mom told me he ran away to have a family with the wild bunnies. It turns out the neighbor's dog got him, but I didn't
find that out until years later.
lol moto, those issues pop up from time to time don't they? i just asked my dad about a dog i found and wanted to keep when i was about 15. no one ever showed up top claim it (despite the
beautiful posters i made) until one day when i was at my friends house. then the family showed up and claimed their dog but now dad swears to the same story i got then, so i guess it was the truth.
My dogs (all 3 of them) did run out the front door one day & I had to run around the neighborhood gathering them all up. Well, actually, Yoshi came back on his own & the vizslas found
their way to a child's birthday party & were running around chasing kids. It was pretty funny.
Years ago we had just rescued from the street this puppy. She was white and within a cpl of weeks she got fat and cute, she looked like a cotton ball so we named her "Motita". One afternoon
she got out of my parent's house and somebody stole her
She enjoyed sitting by my mom's potted plants and apparently somebody saw her all cute and fluffy wearing her pink ribbon, and they just took her. My mom was inconsolable for weeks.

Yes, two dogs named Titi and Jackie. =/
I don't feel like sharing those sad moment though. All I can say is that, I was depressed for a very long time.
Yeah, that damn cat ran away
I say good riddance
1Nope.

10Nope.
11Yes, our dog Taffy either ran away or someone stole her when I was a little girl. She was a mutt, but she was beautiful with super soft fuzzy hair.

17Oh no Radar, your poor kitty
18and why my dad thought we should bring our cat camping is beyond me
Yeah, cats are really not camping material..
