This poll was spurred on by a discussion about the new show Southland (NBC, Thursdays @ 10 Pm).
I think its funny that they tape the show with curse words and then "bleep" them!
Like everyone doesn't know what "son a bleep" really is!
I admit, I'm used to swearing on my television. CTV and City TV air swear words frequently, and much earlier than 10 PM.
Do you think swearing should be aired on television?
Levi's
IRO
Drykorn
After a certain hour is fine. Of course English swear words aren't bleeped here so it's hard to keep my kids from hearing it.
This reminds me that they are no showing Sex And The City at 7:30 pm on free TV here now. WTH?
1OMG, they tape the show Southland with curse words and actually BLEEP them out!?
2I know, its silly.

That is so stupid! Same thing with censoring the swear words on late night shows. If a kid is
up that late, the biggest problem isn't the inappropriate language but the parenting.
4But I'm French Canadian and we are really open-minded when it comes to bad language. Most people aren't careful about the words they use when they're around children. Nudity and sex on TV are also extremely normal and parents couldn't care less if their kids see people having sex on TV. I even saw gay foreplay on TV before 9:00pm last time I was in Québec.
I think no one should be subjected to bleeping out of swear words! hahaha
5hahahaha Lauren!
Finn, I think Canadians are way more laid back over this issue.
So weird that the english swear words are not censored!

8Haha, that sounds like they are trying to make it look like Cops or something. I don't have a problem with it. I think I have just gotten used to it.
9I don't mind the nudity so much but I don't want my kids seeing Samantha Jones going at it, or asking me "Mommy, what is spunk?"
10I just gotta say...I hate the beep sound! hate it...it just ruins the moment/joke!
11Yes to #1. The beeps are so annoying!
12Call me old fashion, but I know children will still see and hear it on tv, no matter how late the program is on (or they'll hear it from some kid at school on the playground..which is disappointing..but at least the majority of adults (I think) is doing what is right for a child's welfare, and they don't need an extra thing to contend with.) So, I don't think it should be allowed on late night TV, but that's just me. I feel like we've already seen a shift with little girls ever since idiots like Britney, Paris, etc. are on the news all the time for showing their lady parts and acting like a bunch of losers. I just want children to actually have a childhood, and not lose their innocence so soon. (I think it's really sad.) Plus, there is a way to be funny without using cuss words...get creative people!
Oh, I voted 'other'. Also,
I think they should get rid of the beep and let it be silent.
13Twink, I agree with you about nudity. The human body is beautiful, and I think children should not feel any shame about it. But, be brought up in a healthy way...knowing there's nothing wrong with the human nude body. And also like you, I wouldn't want a child to see Samantha going at it.
While I'm at it, I do think we bombard are children with way too much violence. I rather a child see a nude person, than something violent...you know? (Obviously, this is just my opinions.)
14i don't like it. if it's on i think it should be on shows that are STRICTLY for adults, like csi or law and order/special victims. i find it distracting when language or sex is used just to use it, not for any real reason. and i don't want my kids seeing people have sex (another reason we don't have tv!) that's not a spectator sport and we teach the girls that their bodies are private and not to display. so obviously we shouldn't be seeing other people's naked bodies either. i'm hoping to have modest teenagers (hey, i can dream).
15i think swearing on adult shows is fine, its annoying when they bleep words besides its up to the parents to make sure their children don't see or hear anything inappropriate
